Perdition's Mouth is a new type of dungeon crawler that embraces European game design school, characterized by smart and elegant mechanics, emphasizing strategy while minimizing the element of luck. Cooperation, planning, and the enemy response deck eliminate the need to roll dice, creating a tense combat environment rich in meaningful decisions. Rondels provide an additional tactical layer, including a clever and challenging enemy AI.

Cooperative Gameplay for 1-6 Players
Designed as a fully cooperative game, Perdition's Mouth accommodates one to six players who take on the roles of heroes venturing deeper into the Abyss Rift. Due to the very different designs and abilities of each hero, it is unlikely that a single character will survive long against the challenges that await them. Therefore, it is recommended for solo players, and even for two players, to bring a party of at least three characters into the lurking darkness. Choosing characters wisely based on the most effective combination of skills is as important as collectively leveraging these abilities to overcome obstacles.

Immersive RPG Feel
Perdition's Mouth is essentially a dungeon crawl adventure game within a campaign that collects various scenarios, but it possesses strong role-playing game elements that manifest in the unique style of how each character is played. This is primarily due to the vast variety of skills and abilities possessed by individual heroes. Ingenious mechanics govern the non-player characters, eliminating the need for a 'dungeon master,' and the management of characters has been simplified to avoid the constant note-taking typical of true role-playing games.

The Rondel
The focal point around which all actions in the game revolve is the Rondel mechanic. Two action rondels determine which actions are available, turn after turn, for both the heroic adventurers and the diverse array of enemies lurking in the dark. Careful consideration for each action a hero takes is crucial, as future actions are heavily influenced by every decision made. The limited slots for available actions force heroes to collaborate and exploit their unique abilities to maximize the group's chances. Enemies, in turn, are guided by their own rondel, which determines their behavior and how they react to the heroes' presence. This is not a simple "tourist trip" where mindless enemies are eliminated for great rewards with few consequences. No. This is a dark and brutal reality where "life" is not so simple. Things often go wrong, and the ability to adapt is the key to success. The rondel system effectively recreates the setbacks and advantages one would expect to face in real life, giving the game a sense of raw reality.

Engaging Stories
The game is designed as a vast exploratory dungeon crawl in campaign style, with each scenario featuring detailed narrative texts to set the scene. However, it is the gameplay itself, in which no two games are the same, that builds a narrative for all players. The true story unfolds as heroes delve deeper into the Rift. The game is designed to flow from one scenario to another, growing the heroes' adventure, but each step of the journey can also be played as a standalone adventure. Scenarios are developed in such a way that heroes jumping into an isolated scenario can simulate the level of a veteran hero who would have otherwise reached this point through a long journey.

Character Development
Characters possess base skills, abilities, and health, as expected from the genre, but during their journey, they can acquire useful items, skills, and competencies that make them more capable of facing increasing challenges. However, injuries and wounds also accumulate, following the hero as they delve deeper into the Rift. This mechanism adds greater depth and realism to the game. A hero does not automatically become stronger and fitter from one scenario to the next. In Perdition's Mouth, careful decisions must be made to avoid excessive injuries (or even death) to successfully progress through the campaign.

Tactical Combat with Miniatures
Combat is inevitable in Perdition's Mouth. An intelligent system has been developed to ensure realistic yet easy-to-manage combat in close-quarters and short-range encounters. A hero not only suffers health loss but also recurring wounds and infections, further limiting future actions. The cooperative nature of the game further encourages teamwork, as heroes help each other during fights to mitigate, or at least minimize, the inevitable hits, scratches, and bruises.
